Plumrose USA to Invest $400,000 in Elkhart to Support Local Community as Part of New Hometown Strong Initiative

Building on its ongoing sustainability and social responsibility efforts, Plumrose USA today announced plans to invest $400,000 in Elkhart, Ind., to support the community’s future. The company worked with local leaders to identify where the funds can best help meet community needs.

In partnership with the Community Foundation of Elkhart County, Plumrose USA is supporting the revitalization of the Tolson Center and Park. The company is funding a new turf soccer complex, and construction will begin in spring of 2021.

“This is an exciting project for our community, and we are proud to play a role in building something that our neighbors and our team members can enjoy,” said Alvin Botacio, Plumrose Elkhart plant manager. “Through our Hometown Strong program, we are demonstrating our longstanding commitment to the Elkhart region.”

McCown, president, Community Foundation of Elkhart County. “We are optimistic the revitalization of the Tolson Center and Park will significantly improve the quality of life for the entire Elkhart community. The addition of a soccer complex to the park, including an artificial turf field with lighting for evening play, will be the centerpiece of the park renovations. The Plumrose USA Elkhart facility employs nearly 300 people with an annual payroll of more than $62 million. Consistent with its long-term commitment to the local economy, Plumrose USA Elkhart has invested more than $6.5 million in capital improvements over the last three years.

Hometown Strong is a national $50 million initiative that adds to commitments JBS USA, of which Plumrose USA is a subsidiary, has made this year to protect employees and ensure their job security amid the global pandemic.
